Pablo Picasso* once said: "Every child is an artist.
The problem is how to remain an
artist once s/he grows up."

A five year old portrays her best friend.

An eleven year old portrays his violin.

A seven year old portrays a tulip in a vase.

These examples give proof of the presence of a remarkable artistic potential in children.

All children on this planet I believe are born with this potential.

Some of these 'unskilled' paintings measure up to high standards of artistic quality

and may compete with museum exhibits of fine art.

Children's art usually is of a pre-skilled quality; they use the 'eyes and hands' of their soul,

spontaneous 'raw' acts of pure creativity.

Acquiring skills of course is a mind activity with different results.

More drawings and paintings from my collection of children's art:

From age two till early adolescence
children are expressing themselves

genuinely authentic unless the influence of family, friends and

education are conditioning the early creative potential they are born with.

Picasso's idea of 'remaining to be an artist' (the inner artist) suggests:

to remain as original, authentic, observant, creative and inventive as a child.
An environment where the inner artist will
most probably feel at ease is...
